How Godaddy saved my…
Recently I was consolidating domain names in to folders on my Godaddy account. Godaddy provides great tools for sorting out domains and makes the control panel easy to use. I just hadn’t taken the time to do it, so why not try to make my life easier… right? Renew, Don’t Renew, Contact about Renewing… simple?
The ones I didn’t plan to renew were taking up space in my control panel and I didn’t need the distraction, so I deleted them. Hoping that this way I’d be able to better manage the domains that I need to keep and get rid of those that were just in the way. But I’d forgotten to uncheck the ones I wanted to keep!
Gone, deleted, poof!
I’ve worked in the tech industry for over 24 years. I’ve worked for two companies who sales were in the 100’s of millions. I’m not a newbie, but this is really the first time I did something that I didn’t think I could fix. Several websites would be affected and I’d have had some upset people to deal with, emails address were going to stop working, blogs weren’t going fail and I’d be entering 404 hell, and it was my fault.
My brother would be affected, my email would stop working and that meant that my wife would also have issues. Both of whom would want to ring my neck.
I am in a panic, what do I do? Don’t anyone talk to me, don’t anyone bother me, just don’t… everyone go away.
One phone call to Godaddy had it all fixed it in less than 15 minutes. John over at Godaddy provided great service and without his help I’d have been lost. He had the names restored back to my account as if nothing had happened. I’ve been a happy and loyal customer of Godaddy for a long time, and this is just one of the reasons. Godaddy is simple and easy to set up. I’ve recommended using Godaddy to people who’d chosen to do their own site.
Good prices, great service and I couldn’t be happier.
